My First Review
Here is the culmination of 7 hours of game play… The Order 1886 Review. I don’t normally do reviews but this game has proved so divisive that I thought I would sick my oar in. As this is my first attempt at a review, please watch the video and pop any constructive comments in the comments section.

The Order 1886 Review and Playthrough
The Order 1886 Review Summary
Characters:
All the characters in this game are beautifully designed and superbly voice acted. They are served by a good (not brilliant) script and the facial animations are really vivid and bring real life to these world weary knights.
Even the smallest character is created and voiced brilliantly which brings realism and interest to this carefully crafted world.
Graphics:
You only have to watch the review and check out the slideshow below to see just how stunning this game is. Every environment is created with such care and detail that is feels like a living breathing world. Ready at dawn have pushed the PS4 beyond anything we have seen on a console before. The hype is not misplaced here it is quite simply the most beautiful game to ever grace a TV screen.
Gameplay:
The Order 1886 is a cover shooter in the main and this is implemented well. it is not stellar or innovative or dynamic it works well and is generally not frustrating. This may seen to be damning with faint praise but it is an very good cover based shooter but although it looks new gen it plays last gen. QTEs are not as frequents as a lot of the naysayers have said and they are generally short and add to the narrative. They are implemented best in the 2 boss fights which are thrilling and dynamic (footage in the video).
Weapons:
Weapons are in the most part fairly standard, however a couple are awesome. The Arc Gun shoots lightning and blows peoples heads off and the Thermite rifle is a pyromaniacs dream.
Conclusion:
The Order 1886 is not a bad game, it just isn’t great. It does so much right: graphics, story, characters, atmosphere. But then does so much wrong: generic cover shooting, making werewolves crap (full rant in the review). It feels like a prelude rather than a game. A teaser for a bigger and greater experience rather than a complete game in itself. Do play it but don’t pay full price. Trade in or pre-owned are your best options. You won’t feel your time is wasted but you won’t feel you’ve experienced true next gen either.
